Two weeks of pure bliss, white sand beaches, emerald water, and unlimited amounts of fun. This is what we got to experience in Destin, FL. We just so happened to plan back to back weeks of family vacation in the same place and house. I think that was our smartest idea yet! Chase’s family and I packed up the car and headed out on the long 13 hour drive to Destin. This was the first time I personally was going to a beautiful white sand beach in Florida because I was always used to the Outer Banks in North Carolina where my family vacationed. So, as we arrived crossing the long bridge early in the morning into Destin, we found a place to park at the beach to get out and stretch. This moment changed my view on beaches for forever!

I remember walking on the fine, cold sand and staring out into the emerald water as the sun was coming up. Beautiful and breathtaking are the first words that come to mind when I think of seeing Miramar Beach in Destin. There weren’t a ton of people out on the beach but it was also a Saturday so people were leaving to head back home. We couldn’t get into the beach house until 11 so we decided to go to get breakfast at the Pancakery. This restaurant was amazing to say the least! I ordered pancakes that literally had giant pieces of bacon cooked into it infused with maple syrup. I can feel my mouth watering again from the smell of the bacon and the taste of the sweet maple syrup. There were also a variety of breakfast foods like eggs benedict, french toast, etc. After breakfast, we did a little shopping and then we headed to the house we would be staying at for 2 weeks.

After we got settled into the carriage house, which was like an apartment with a giant loft with beds and separate from the main house, we headed down to the beach. Everyone was getting sunscreen on and getting super excited about getting into the water finally! We splashed and jumped the waves with the little ones. We built sand castles and buried each other in the sand then rinsed off in the cool water. Finally we decided to head back to the house because all the little kids liked the pool better than the beach and people were getting a lot sun.

We spent the rest of this week just adventuring around the town. We ended up walking to a coffee shop just down the road from us that was extremely cool and good (I can’t remember the name but it’s located in Miramar beach)! Also, there was a YOLO board shop near us that we went to a handful of times along with the Ben and Jerry’s Ice cream shop. Clearly we did a lot of shopping and eating out. The best place we went to was called The Back Porch. It was a restaurant located right on the beach and the seafood was excellent. We highly recommend going there if you are ever in the Destin area! The shopping was pretty spread out but we had fun going to the boardwalk. It had the most variety of shops from souvenirs to Columbia PFG.

One really cool thing we did both weeks was rent a pontoon boat and drive out to a place called Crab Island. It’s basically a sand bar with water up to your waist with food boats, inflatable obstacle courses, and lots of people. It’s located on the other side of the bridge by the board walk. Crab Island is a really cool place to go hang out and learn how to paddle board or kayak. When we went the second time, they had a DJ and volleyball in the water! This is also another place we highly recommend going to!

The second week was pretty much the same as the first week. We went to the beach a lot, go loads of ice cream, and did our fair share of shopping again! We spent more time on the beach during the evening playing volleyball or throwing the Frisbee. On this trip, we celebrated two engagements back to back, so needless to say it was an exciting week!

We hope to go back again to Destin as it is one of our favorite places. Destin is the perfect place for couples, families, or pretty much anyone to just go kick back and relax.

  1. I’m extremely impressed with your writing skills and also with the layout on your
weblog. Is this a paid theme or did you customize it yourself?

Either way keep up the nice quality writing,
it is rare to see a nice blog like this one these days.
